planta san pancho

Planta San Pancho is an annual reforestation event organized by entreAmigos to promote education, awareness, and action towards the environment.ready, set, go!

Trees and plants are generally donated by the municipal and state governmental organizations and are planted by volunteers in a fun and festive community event.  There is music, food, t-shirts, educational displays, games and of course… lots of holes to dig and plants to plant!

Planta San Pancho is scheduled after the first rains of the season (generally in the first weeks of July).  Local naturalists, biologists and environmentalists help determine the places most in need of new trees and plants.

The 2008 Planta San Pancho reforestation reflected the growing unity of the San Pancho community around concerns for protection of tkids and treeshe environment.  Together, public, private, and government interests planted 1000’s of new trees and plants along the river an in designated locations around town.  600 volunteers including officials from SEMARNAT and CONAFOR showed up for the big day and we appreciae a grant from the Emerald Coast Foundation and operational support from Citicorp for helping to provide free food and t-shirts for everyone who participated.
